Shampoo ginger, also known as awapuhi and Zingiber zerumbet is a lovely plant that produces beautiful flowers late summer through fall. These flowers excrete a liquid when squeezed that smells like heaven and can be used to moisturize skin and hair.

Plant goes dormant each winter and resprouts upon the warmth of spring. 

Very carefree to grow, doing best in moist areas with partial shade.
